Maryland Consumer Protection Fund

Maryland mandates that builders of new homes, or an entity who sells new homes (dwelling units) must be registered and possess a registration number issued by the Maryland Consumer Protection division. This is an agency within the state of Maryland's Attorney General Office.

Maryland Consumer Protection Fund
​
The State has created a Consumer Protection Fund for owners of property built by a registered builders. The purpose of this Fund is for consumers to seek compensation for losses resulting from an act or omission by a registered builder who constructs a new home for a consumer.​
​
We encourage property owners to ensure their builder's information is listed with the State and to review the additional information on this Fund via the website of the State Attorney General's office.
